The Family:
Greg: Former Bovine Lactic Acid Extractor~ Greg graduated from Clear Fork High School and worked as a Dairy Farmer until shortly before he moved to Haiti. God used the time on the farm to teach Greg many principles he has needed as a missionary- hard work, perseverance, patience, how to make a dollar stretch, and how to fix whatever’s broken with whatever’s available. He loves sharing his life with the Haitians, working and sweating alongside them. He enjoys a good prank now and then and loves to make people smile. He leads the mission team in Haiti, looking to God for direction and wisdom. Pray for Greg as he has many responsibilities and is often pulled in many directions at once.

Cathie: Registered Dietician ~ Cathie graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Medical Dietetics. Before moving to Haiti, she devoted most of her time to being a stay at home mom, managing the house and nurturing their four daughters. In Haiti, her role is primarily as the Fellowship House hostess. She is very intentional in how she takes care of the facility, directs the staff, plans meals, and manages even the smallest of details. She has one of those positions where you can’t explain what exactly she does, but you know she’s always busy and things don’t work right when she’s not around! Cathie has a voice disorder which causes no pain, but makes her voice difficult to understand at times. Pray for her as she communicates with the Haitians, that they will be able to understand her as she speaks to them.

Children:

Julie Aurand (Daughters Alayna & Jenna), High school Math Teacher, living in Fredericktown, Ohio

Linette Benson, Third Grade Teacher, living in Mount Vernon, Ohio
Ian and Melissa Palmer (Daughters Bethany, Mikayla, & Nora), Chiropractor and Physician Assistant, living in Millersburg, Ohio

Favorite Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”

The Missionary Journey (very short version):

Greg and Cathie started their missionary journey in 1994 when they each went on a short-term mission trip to the Dominican Republic. God began giving them a desire for something different, and they became increasingly uncomfortable with their comfortable lives. Eventually, God directed their path to Haiti. They moved there on August 6, 1996, toting 12 suitcases and four daughters- ages 17, 15, 13, and 11. They began working at a guest house, directing short-term teams as they ministered to the neighboring areas. God continues to surprise them by using them to change the lives of Haitians and of many guests who stay with them. One of their favorite songs is “My Tribute,” which expresses the desire of their hearts- “To God be the Glory!”
